The bits that work are great, but... August 6, 2005 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a review of the full Half-Life 2 game running on 2.6GHz Pentium with 512Meg RAM and GForce 6200 video card.
The graphics, story-line, and voice acting in this game are all worthy of 5 stars. The gravity gun alone is worth a star. But I can't remember another game that is so unstable. I had to skip an entire chapter because my computer crashed every time it tried to load the chapter. I had to use cheat codes to unlock all the chapters and then start a new game at the next one.
I sent an email to Valve but, no suprise, I got no response. I checked the FAQs but all they suggest is to update the drivers (I already did, duh).
Apart from that, the game keeps crashing unpredictably and there is a huge problem with one of the npcs right now who appears to be wearing a roof around her waist instead of a skirt. Makes it pretty tricky to see around her.
Because of all the stability problems and the loss of an entire chapter I can only give this game a 3 star rating.
Half-Life and my PC February 15, 2005 1 out of 8 found this review helpful
While the demo was choppy at times, I found the game to be a fun overall game to play. The graphics look good, and I need to up-date my video card. :>) However, since I've played the demo I am now considering going out and buying the game, I gave it four stars instead of five due to it ran a bit choppy at times. But through its choppyness, it still came out to be a good game and the choppyness didn't last very long so it had no real lasting effect on game play. ::CoughDoom3Cough:: My advice: While most people can play the game on a Sh*tway[that is my name for Gateway] from 2001, I reccomend that you people throw the computer out the window and if it still lives, grab a baseball bat and trash whatever is left....then go and buy yourselves a real computer so no one has to deal with choppy parts at times! :>) Peace!
